Never the same place twice - because they keep changing the decor. Although not a real deli (what, no knish?), it's as close as you can come on the west side. It is always a clean and pleasant experience.
The food is deli, which is to say large sandwiches. Not a place to visit when you're on a diet. Just as appealing are the desserts. There is always a variety of sinful delights towards the back. If you love cheesecake, you'll love Max's.
The service here is friendly and relaxed. I've never had bad service here.
While the prices may seem high ($6 for a sandwich??!?), the portions are huge. Their sandwiches are meals unto themselves, making the bill quite reasonable.
