Marta's is a sort of Cleveland-throwback, the ethnic tavern with homecooked food. Located on East 222nd Street in Euclid, the restaurant is a former tavern, and the bar still dominates the tiny dining room. It's entirely a family-run operation, and their focus is Czech food. Sure, there's some standard tavern faire, such as burgers and munchies, but most visitors know to look for the ethnic specialties on the menu.
The place is often crowded on friday nights, and the restaurant is always closed sunday, but the value is high. The portions are huge, and as typical with Eastern European food, not the healthiest, but the food is good. Prices are also fairly low. The service isn't the fastest, because it is entirely family run, but the guests are understanding, and everyone gets along. The atmosphere is kinda quaint, with Czech music playing, and pictures from the Czech Republic on the walls. It's not a fancy place, it is certainly not trendy, but it will give you a very good, very filling meal, for a good price. Cleveland needs more of those places.
