Mallorca Restaurant on West 9th St, Cleveland, OH. Specializes in Spanish and Continental cuizine. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. A place to return to time and time again.
There are many options on the menu to choose from, as well as their delightful specials of the day. You will find some exotic foods on the list, not common in most Cleveland Restaurants. For instance: quail stuffed with filet mignon (special only $19.95...was quite tasty, but a little hard to eat..there were 4 of them, and they are small); octopus appetizers (not sure how they were prepared) amongst others.
The prices range does vary: from $13.95 for chicken; $17.95 for assorted seafood (similar to a bouillabaisse, with an enormous amount of seafood); $18.95 for salmon; $23.95 for steak (price ranges on cut of meat); to $43.95 for a 24 oz. stuffed lobster tail (stuffed with crabmeat...and it was worth it!). The salmon is wonderful, as well as the sautee'd shrimp and scallops. Meals are served European Style (some mid-westerners call it "Family Style"), with plenty of spanish rice, fried potatoes (similar to home-made potato chips), and steamed vegetables.
The service here is also terrific. The servers are mostly of spanish decent, and you must pay attention when they are announcing the specials. There is always an employee within arms reach to bring what you need, even if they may not fully understand your request. Speaking Spanish here idoes help, although not required, but it does make for an inviting conversation with your server.
Hagen's ReviewWe were attended to and seated immediately. The decor was fine, nothing special that I can remember. It was clean with a quiet atmosphere and busy waiters.
The food was out of this world! We had the paella and found it to be delicious. It contained oodles of wonderful, fresh seafood (including 1/2 of a lobster per person!) and that smoky, tasty Spanish sausage. The accompanying dishes were just as good. The bread, the vegetables and the potato chips were yummy! We would definitely go back there when we get the chance to visit Cleveland again.
The service was top notch!
For the quality and amount of delicious food we got, it was definitely worth the price! Our visit to Mallorca made our stay in Cleveland that much more memorable! You have a great city there!
