I was surprised to find such a place in Newbury Township. The restaurant is decorated in what I guess I could call an "Americana" motif. It has terrific pine floors and pine furniture with a very comfortable, warm atmosphere. I would describe it as casually elegant. I arrived on a Saturday night and was greeted with a rather large crowd and about a one-half hour wait, but it was worth it.
I ordered the prime rib special ($19.95) and was presented with the largest piece of prime rib I have ever been served. Everything about the meal was great, from the honey-butter rolls and the salad to the main course. The prime rib was delicious, although I was unable to finish it. My husband ordered something called Salmon Ancho (I think it was $21.95), which was delicious. I believe it was drizzled with a prickly pear sauce. It was sweet and bitey at the same time. It was the finest salmon I've ever had. Overall, it was one of the best meals I've had since moving to Northeast Ohio. I've been back three times since, and every meal was delicious. You can get a fabulous dinner for around $50.00 and not be disappointed.
Our service was outstanding. We never had to wait for a refill, and the waitress seemed be knowledgable of the menu. I was impressed.
I've been to much more expensive restaurants and have never had a meal this delicious. I know it sounds like I am gushing about this restaurant, but it is wonderful. I have friends that drive from Westlake every week to eat at Green Acres Tavern. I hope they do well and their food quality does not diminish.
